In 2016 my world came to an abrupt stop when I experienced my first ME/CFS crash following a mild viral infection. It felt impossible that I could be so ill; I led a busy life, worked in a health focused job and was a mum of two small girls'. I remember being bedbound, crawling round the kitchen to cook the girls dinner and feeling distraught because I had to miss out on so much of their little lives. But I was determined that I was going to recover and was so fortunate that I was able to use my Nutrition experience to be able to run tests and pull together a plan that started my journey to recovery. But while nutrition was really important, it was only a piece of my recovery puzzle and I have had to work on many other areas of my life to reclaim the energy and vitality that I feel today. I know how isolating the recovery journey can be and I love to be able to support my clients through this journey removing some of the guesswork and finding each person's unique route.
Read more about my journey with ME/CFS in the My Story section of this website.
I qualified as a Nutritional Therapist from the internationally renowned Institute for Optimum Nutrition (ION) in 2010. In addition to running my own practice, I have worked as a Nutritional Therapist for Nuffield Health & Tesco, Head of Supervision at BANT (British Association for Nutrition & Lifestyle Medicine) and am currently a Clinic Tutor and Lecturer at ION. After my own experience of ME/CFS, I trained with The Chrysalis Effect and qualified as an ILM (Institute of Leadership and Management) accredited ME/CFS and Fibromyalgia specialist practitioner. This has given me a range of tools and techniques that I can use in addition to Nutritional Therapy enabling me to offer a truly holistic approach. I am also a Lifecode GX Nutrigenomics Testing Practitioner and use genetic testing as an integral part of my practice.
1. Feel free to email me or book a free 30 minute discovery call to chat about what you are looking for and how we can work together. There is no pressure during this call; it is purely for us to get to know each other and for you to decide if you would like us to work together.
2. Agree the most suitable way of working together. My programmes are flexible with some people preferring longer sessions that are more spaced out, whereas others prefer regular shorter sessions.
3. Complete the Health Questionnaire and Terms of Engagement paperwork.
4. Send off any samples for pre-appointment testing
5. Start working together!
Every client is different and therefore the tools and techniques I use will vary too. I use a personalised holistic approach to health that focuses on getting to the root cause of what is going on. I have been through this journey myself, which helps me to relate to my clients, but everyone is unique and there really isn't a one size fits all. I have lots of different options, tools and techniques that I can draw on that really can and do make the difference. And if I am not the right person for you to work with, I will refer you to someone who I think can help. I work at the pace that is right for you, am non-judgemental and always work with kindness and warmth.
I have suffered from ME/CFS since I was 40. I'm now 68. In that time I've tried many supplements, therapies etc to try and improve my condition, some helped, some didn't. I can't prepare meals so a diet regime was out of the question so I gave up on that. Last year I was just over the border into diabetes and was prescribed metformin which the M.E reacted very badly to, causing the most horrendous migraines leaving me too weak to get out of bed for a full day. I just wanted to die. Then along came Sally through a friend. I came off the metformin and with Sally's suggestions of food combinations - which I'd never have put together - we got my blood sugar levels right down and my energy levels are now back to pre metformin levels. I love breakfast! She has tailored my diet to my M.E capabilities with meals that take little or no preparation.
I had heard of gene expression research in M.E many years ago but someone said it will be years before that's available, but at last, with Sally's help, I've been able to have two tests, metabolic and nervous system, both with amazing results which she says we can address.
I have always felt that some of the root cause of M.E is in the brain and central nervous system and for myself I feel slightly less ill on the rare days that my head feels clear. If Sally and the technical team she works alongside of can address this we could well be on to something!
I have also tentatively been told over the years I've been ill by medical professionals that M.E is possibly due to chemical imbalances in the brain. Interesting then that my results show glutamate too high and GABA too low. Sally has suggested ginger to help address this and I'm already noticing a benefit.
If I can reach a comfortable M.E level where I can visit my family as long as I pace myself I'll be more than happy with that. Sally says we'll work towards it! She is lovely to work with and very knowledgeable, far far better than taking advice from a regular dietician who would have no concept of the limitations of M.E. Thank you Sally, you are amazing!

" Sally has provided me with a great deal of nutritional advice for myself and family over the years. I have always found her recommendations incredibly helpful and practical to implement. She has always been very kind, caring and supportive, and her knowledge and experience invaluable. I have recently carried out genetic hormone testing through Sally. The information was mind blowing. Sally broke down and explained this very complicated science report in a really easy to understand way. She set me my own very specific nutritional plan, advising on foods and supplements that are both beneficial and not agreeable to me personally. I was so surprised to find things that I was eating and drinking because I thought they were ‘healthy’ actually are detrimental to me. However I was very pleased to learn that foods I love can also have a positive effect on my hormones when consumed in moderation. My energy levels have definitely improved. Thank you Sally" Jennifer 48
"I was super impressed with Sally’s insight and recommendations. She has a lovely manner and everything she said made sense. She connected all the dots for me and I've made real progress" Katrina 34
