Genetic and Functional testing is invaluable and often a key part of my clinic work. There are many tests available that can provide vital information on which to base protocols, diet & lifestyle recommendations and supplements. Tests are always optional and will only be recommended if I feel that the results would help inform your specific health improvement plan. Sometimes I will recommend specific tests before we start working together, this is something we can discuss during your discovery call.
Please contact me if you are interested in finding out more about the tests that I offer, sometimes it is possible to run these outside of one of my programmes.
As a Lifecode GX Nutrigenomics Testing Practitioner, I have access to their full range of Genetic testing. Lifecode GX are market leaders in the field of Nutrigenomics with an excellent research base and quality testing facility.
Variances in our DNA (SNPs) are vital as this is what makes us unique, but these variances can also have quite a profound impact on our health and wellbeing. The fascinating science of Nutrigenomics shows us that while our genes and SNPs are set (we can't change them), we can influence how these genes are expressed through our diet and lifestyle. So knowing what SNPs you have, can help us to really tailor your diet and lifestyle for your specific needs to help your body to operate with more ease. This can lead to some fantastic results as your body is provided with the raw materials that it needs to produce energy and make you feel good.
Lifecode GX test for 100s of SnPs, all of which are heavily researched and there is specific evidence based recommendations for each of the SNPs identified. I can help you decide which tests you would like to carry out and spend time going through the results with you and using this to design a personalised plan.
All of the genetic tests from Lifecode GX provide fascinating information but I find that the Metabolics and Methylation reports are often the most relevant for clients with CFS/ME, Fibromyalgia and Long Covid. However, the Nervous System and Hormone Reports can also provide invaluable information.
If you would like to find out more feel free to get in touch for a no obligation chat.
Functional tests are used to identify specific levels of nutrients and biomarkers and these can be very useful, especially when we want to know exactly how your body is functioning. Samples are usually collected at home and posted to the testing laboratory e.g. saliva, urine, blood prick or stool. Testing companies that I use include Genova Diagnostics, Regenerus Labs, Medichecks
Examples of functional tests are:
Comprehensive Digestive Stool Analysis - useful to identify imbalances of gut bacteria, the presence of possible pathogens e.g. bacteria, parasites & yeast overgrowths, markers of gut inflammation and digestive efficiency
Adrenal Stress Profile - using a saliva sample taken at 4 points throughout the day to identify the client's natural cortisol rhythm. DHEA ratio to Cortisol is also provided.
Complete Thyroid Panel - providing a more comprehensive picture of your thyroid health than you can obtain from a standard thyroid test. TSH and T4 are reported along with T3, rT3 and Thyroid antibodies.
Metabolic Analysis - a very useful urine test that reports on vitamin status, digestive health, neurotransmitter balance and toxicity.
Dutch Hormone Test - simple urine collection through the day is used to provide oestrogen, progresterone, testosterone and stress hormone levels.
This is just a snapshot, many other tests are available.
